So, my best friend, Hailey, is the most creating, artistic, and driven people I have ever met. They LOVE decorating for birthdays, interior design in our home, and when it comes to music festivals, it can be an absolute dream to watch them bring their creative eye to an outdoor space.
Hailey and I became best friends and almost immediately started going to music festivals together. We have seen over a hundred artists, and have found so much fun in really transforming a campsite into a homey oasis. Here are a few of the things I have learned along the way, when making your space the cozy place people love coming back to after the set ends.
Festival season is happening right now. This comes with the excitement of immersing ourselves in music, community, and the great outdoors. But why settle for a standard camping experience when you can transform your festival campsite into a cozy, aesthetic oasis that's perfect for both relaxation and after-party fun? We all know how amazing it really is to find a cozy spot after the show to take off your cute boots, put on sweats and a hoodie, and enjoy the people you came with.
In this blog, we'll explore how to elevate your festival campspace to the next level, making it a welcoming home away from home and the ultimate spot for post-show celebrations with your friends.

Choose the Right Location: When I first began raving, I would always go with the cheapest options. I was a broke, fresh college student doing the payment plans and working extra just so I could see Subtronics live. IF you are able to upgrade, I do recommend it for the bathrooms situation, but if not no worries! There are a ton of awesome things you can do to make standard camping, feeeeeel premium, just keep reading!

We are officially onto Base Camp, my favorite part: Once you've found your spot, it's time for the real fun to begin. To set up your base camp. This could be its own blog, but I will do my best not to ramble!
- Faux Fur and Soft Rugs: Start by adding cozy touches like faux fur throws on camp chairs and soft rugs outside your tent/in common areas. Regular rugs work great too, especially if you have ones you don't mind getting a little trashed by the end of the weekend. The softer, the better, for creating a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. This means you get to lay anywhere and you don't have to worry as much about allergies/grass getting muddy/bees.
- Outdoor Rugs or Fake Grass: If you don't mind a less cozy approach, outdoor rugs are great for creating defined spaces within your campsite. Alternatively, consider using fake grass for a whimsical touch, just make sure it's soft enough for lounging barefoot.
- USB Powered String Lights: Create a magical ambiance with large USB-powered string lights. These can be draped throughout the canopy or tent to illuminate your space and add a festive glow to late-night gatherings. I have tons of options in my "lights" section on my website.
- Folding Tables with Cooler Storage: Keep your drinks cool and out of the way by storing your cooler underneath folding tables. This not only keeps your beverages + food within easy reach but also provides additional shade during the day. if you use a tablecloth/tapestry over the table and let it drape over the cooler.
- Curtains and Tapestries for Privacy and Decoration: Instead of using only tapestries, mix things up by using curtains of various textures as your base. Hang tapestries as added decoration for pops of color and visual interest. Attach them using stretch rope or bungee cord for even coverage and privacy, and use clothespins for easy adjustment.
- Floor Cushions for Seating and Comfort: Provide ample seating for friends with floor cushions in vibrant colors and patterns. Not only do they add a stylish touch to your campsite, but they also create a cozy atmosphere for late-night hangouts and recaps.
- Disco Balls for Festive Vibes: Hang disco balls from your canopy to add a touch of whimsy and sparkle to your campsite. As they catch the light, they'll create a magical ambiance that's perfect for dancing the night away. These are super easy to find on Amazon.
- Bring a Large Mirror: A large mirror not only serves practical purposes like doing your makeup and hair but also helps to make your space appear larger and more open. Plus, it adds a touch of glamour to your festival home.
- Choose Stylish Canopies: Opt for EZ Ups and canopies in calming or aesthetically pleasing colors. While the blue ones are reliable and affordable, darker or lighter colors can help set the vibe and enhance the overall aesthetics of your campsite.
- Accessorize with Fun Essentials: Complete the look of your campsite with fun essentials like cute cups, glow-in-the-dark decorations, flags, and other playful accessories. These little touches add personality and charm to your space, making it truly unique.
With a little creativity and planning, you can transform your festival campsite into a homey oasis that's as aesthetic as it is inviting. From cozy seating areas to personalized decor and after-party essentials, there are endless ways to make your campspace the perfect retreat for both relaxation and celebration. So gather your friends, pack your bags, and get ready to make unforgettable memories at this year's festivals!
